Dr. Rachel Luoma is a Georgia native who has been passionate about cats since a young age. She completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Biology. She then moved to Athens, GA, to complete her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia. Following graduation, Dr. Luoma moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she practiced feline-only medicine for nearly two years. She then moved back to Georgia and transitioned to cat and dog medicine. However, since her passion lay with feline medicine, she knew she would make the transition back to feline-only medicine as soon as she could. She is happy to be seeing cats only again at Paws, Whiskers, & Claws. Dr. Luoma is an AAFP cat-friendly certified veterinarian as well as a Fear Free practitioner. She shares her home with her husband, four spoiled cats, and a greyhound (who really is an honorary cat). Outside of work, Dr. Luoma enjoys spending time with her family, learning piano, and swing dancing.
